Founded in 1811, Thornton Academy is a coeducational independent day school located on an 80-acre open campus in beautiful coastal southern Maine.
Academic offerings are supported not by faculty and staff alone, but by Thornton's physical learning environment as well. Thornton Academy's arts wing, constructed in 1996, has multiple studios, including visual arts, theater, music and television. Thornton's arts program also boasts renovated studios for black and white photography and dance. Likewise, technology and business courses are supported five full-class computer laboratories housing Macintosh and Windows platforms.
