Associate Head Of Advancement
John Ritzo was raised in Massachusetts and attended the University of New Hampshire where he earned a degree in liberal arts and a teaching certificate. He later pursued his master’s degree in education at Harvard University. Prior to joining the Thornton Academy administration in 2011, Mr. Ritzo devoted over three decades to the academic environment, 25 of which were spent serving as the Headmaster of Carrabassett Valley Academy. His dedication to academic and athletic development made it possible for CVA to add to its reputation and facilities, as well as double in population size. Mr. Ritzo looks forward to utilizing his previous experiences to further advance the prospects and opportunities that Thornton Academy has on the horizon for continued success in the academic world. In his spare time, Mr. Ritzo enjoys skiing, hiking, boating and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Lindsay (LaPrad) Hudnor
Director of Development
Lindsay (LaPrad) Hudnor joined the Thornton Academy Development Office in June of 2015. Prior to joining the team at TA, Ms. Hudnor worked at the University of New England in the Institutional Advancement Office. Ms. Hudnor grew up in Brunswick and received her B.A. from Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. In 2010, she graduated with distinction from Seton Hall University with a Master's Degree in Museum Professions and Nonprofit Management. Previously, Ms. Hudnor also worked at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and the Brunswick Downtown Association where she gained experiences in marketing, special events and volunteer management. She is a member of the Junior League of Portland and enjoys volunteering, cooking, boating and spending time with her family.
Assistant Director of Development
Alumna Krissy Mailman (Class of 2004) returns to Thornton Academy with extensive experience in fundraising in both higher education and nonprofits. She is thrilled to be back at her Alma Mater and to give back to a place that has given her so much. Krissy comes from a long line of Thornton alumni dating back to her grandfather Earle Mailman who graduated in 1942.
Krissy served as the Assistant Director of California Lutheran University’s Annual Fund in Thousand Oaks CA, as well as a former Development Officer for Sweetser in Saco. Before that she worked in Amarillo, Texas for the American Quarter Horse Association as the Manager of Marketing and Membership. Krissy also served as an adjunct professor for West Texas A&M University’s Communication’s Department and assisted with their National Championship Equestrian Team.
Krissy brings an array of experiences in both fundraising, coaching and working with diverse groups of students.
Krissy has a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Management from the University of Southern Maine, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from West Texas A&M University. Aside from her passion for horses, she also enjoys anything outdoors, including running, biking, skiing (of all kinds) and one day aspires to hike all of New England’s highest peaks.
Brittany Brown was born and raised in Biddeford and graduated from the University of Maine. Miss Brown enjoys working in Thornton Academy’s thriving academic environment in the Alumni House. Through her role in the Development Office, she is engaged with both active and alumni community members.
Alannah Brown was raised in Biddeford and studied at the University of Maine. She assists the Development and Admissions offices with a variety of tasks to ensure the utmost efficiency.
Claudia Shiyun Zhao
International Development Associate
Born and raised in Beijing, China, Claudia Shiyun Zhao worked as a book editor for six years after graduating from college with a degree in engineering in Beijing. Afterwards, she moved to Sydney, Australia and lived there for 10 years. In 2011 Ms. Zhao moved to the States and she joined Thornton Academy in 2015. She works in the Development office and engages with TA’s international community.
