Calling young birders for the Maine Young Birders Club! Are you a young birder or naturalist (age 11-18) who lives in southern Maine? If so, we want to hear from you! York County Audubon is helping to launch the Maine Young Birders Club (MYBC)—the first of its kind in the state. MYBC will organize bird walks, field trips, presentations, and other fun programs for young nature-enthusiasts.

Elizabeth Roy of Thornton Academy in Saco, Maine, has been selected to perform in the All-Eastern Honors Orchestra. More than 800 of the most musically talented high school students in the Eastern region of the United States have been selected to perform in the 2017 NAfME All‑Eastern Honors Ensembles.

Thornton Academy Symphony Orchestra & Friends will proudly present Go West! on February 4, 2017 at 3 PM in Garland Auditorium. This a family friendly concert and costumes are encouraged! Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for students/seniors and can be purchased online at the link below. The Orchestra will perform favorite movie themes including The Magnificent 7, as well as Americana themed music.

On Saturday, January 14, the Thornton Academy girls basketball program will hold its annual "Hoops for Hope" fundraiser for cancer.
Thornton Academy's Chinese Club will host its annual Chinese New Year Celebration and Fundraising Fair on Saturday, January 28 from 1 PM – 5 PM in the TA Cafeteria, which coincides with the first day of Chinese New Year.
The Thornton Dance Winter Concert will take place on Tuesday, January 10, and Wednesday, January 11 in Garland Auditorium. Both shows are at 7 PM. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for seniors/students and can be bought online at the link above!

Jazz Band will play at the MMEA District 1 High School Jazz Band Festival at Sanford High School on February 4th, the Berklee College of Music High School Jazz Festival on February 11th, the Maine Band Directors Association Jazz Festival held at Westbrook High School on March 3rd, and, if qualified, the MMEA State Festival held March 18th in South Portland.
