Headmaster Rene Menard of Thornton Academy is pleased to announce that Vincent Falardeau '18 has been publicly announced as a Semifinalist in the National Merit® Scholarship Program. Headmaster Menard, Associate Head Marsha Snyder, and School Counselor Kelsey Ramsey presented Vincent with this exciting academic achievement.
The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. Vincent joins approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. To become a Finalist, Vincent will complete a detailed scholarship application that includes his participation in activities at Thornton Academy, an essay, and an SAT® score that confirms his previous performance on the test.
Vincent says, "I want to become a Finalist and have a chance at one of the (National Merit) scholarships. This is definitely a distinction. It validates all of the effort I've put in and makes me want to work harder to further distinguish myself."
15,000 students are expected to advance to the Finalist level. In February, Vincent will learn if he advances to the Finalist level.
