 | With a boarding program, a
middle school program and endless after-school and weekend opportunities for students in grades 6-12, Thornton Academy is alive with activity 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Students are kept busy with academics, arts, activities and athletics in a close and supportive community.
Thornton Academy is proud of its strong arts program. Students can perform with TA's band, orchestra, dance and a number of choral groups; work at TATV, a television station that broadcasts on Saco's local Channel 3; enjoy biennial art shows; and take part in theater productions each year at Garland Auditorium (both at the middle school and high school level).
For our boarding students, the James E. Nelson Hall (constructed in 2009) serves as a remarkable classroom where students build important relationships, develop confidence, learn to take responsibility, and make meaningful contributions. In dormitories, students learn the kind of leadership skills which only life in close community can support. The weekend activities listed on this page will give you a sample of what our boarding students enjoy doing. And day students in the ambassador program join in the fun!
