Saturday Senior Spotlight: Amy Blanchard

Welcome to our Saturday Senior Spotlights for 2021! We will be highlighting a wide variety of Thornton Academy members of the class of 2021 and featuring their accomplishments in the classroom, on the athletic field, in academic competitions, in the arts, and out in the real world. We are so proud of the resilience and dedication of this class in particular and are excited to share their stories.

Today's spotlight features Senior Class President Amy Blanchard. Amy has done it all during her time at Thornton Academy. She has participated in Student Council, Interact Club, Civil Rights Team, Red Cross Club, Classics Club, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Girls Tennis Team, Volleyball Team, French Club and Chinese Club. Next year, she will be attending the University of Maine with a major in Communications.

What's your favorite spot on campus, and why?

My favorite spot would have to be the Latin Building because of it's design and also it’s one of the quieter spots on campus.

What is your favorite Thornton Academy tradition and why?

I always loved the Homecoming Bonfire. A great way to see the community all having fun in one spot.

What is your favorite class, teacher, or club?

My favorite class was AP Human Geography with Mr. Nelson. I have many loved teachers but Mr. Jason Cote and Mr. Tom Rackmales are role models for me.

What are you most proud of from your time at Thornton Academy?

I’m most proud of the work I accomplished for the community with student council, interact club, and civil rights team.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I do not know where I see myself in 10 years, I only hope I am happy and healthy.
