Dyer Library/Saco Museum and Thornton Academy host a Guest Moderated Book Event: "Stolen Seasons: How Maine Sports Survived the COVID-19 Pandemic"
Dive into the remarkable journey of resilience and creativity showcased in Stolen Seasons: How Maine Sports Survived the COVID-19 Pandemic, a compelling new book by authors Dave Eid and Gary Stevens. This insightful narrative explores how the Maine sports community confronted unprecedented challenges during the pandemic, turning loss into opportunities for recovery.
Join us on November 21 at 7:00 PM at Thornton Academy Library to meet the authors, hear their inspiring stories, and discuss the impact of COVID-19 on local sports. Former WGME 13 news anchor Kim Block will moderate a conversation between the authors. Dave Eid serves as the Sports Director for WGME 13 news, and Gary Stevens, after his illustrious 17-year career as Thornton Academy’s Athletic Director, now serves as the Interim Athletic Director at St. Joseph’s College.
Stolen Seasons captures the emotional and often heroic journey of Mainers across all levels of sport who faced setbacks that seemed insurmountable. With heartfelt storytelling and firsthand accounts, Eid and Stevens shine a light on the resilience of athletes and the sports community during unprecedented times.
Senator Susan Collins noted, “Dave Eid and Gary Stevens do a remarkable job of capturing one of the stories behind the story of the COVID pandemic. You do not have to be a sports fan to enjoy the tremendous work that they have done.”
