Honoring TA's "Queen of Strings"

Maine Music Educator Association (MMEA) has announced that their 2019 Hall of Fame inductee is TA's beloved performing arts teacher, Anne Wilkinson! Anne, also known as the "Queen of Strings" throughout the community, has been selected in recognition of her contributions, as well as her role as one of the most highly regarded professional leaders in Maine.

Along with colleague Jen Witherell-Stebbins, Anne established the Thornton Academy Symphony Orchestra, consisting of the string program and the wind ensemble. She also serves as the director of the school's string quartet.

For more than 20 years, Anne's undying passion for teaching has helped put a violin (or viola, cello, or bass) in the hands of thousands of children. She always provides quality repertoire and challenges her students to cultivate their strength as musicians. Anne will retire at the end of this school year and will be deeply missed by Thornton Academy and the city of Saco.

Congratulations, Anne!
