Kelly Foley ’08 named new girls lacrosse coach at Thornton Academy

A familiar face is taking the helm of the TA girls lacrosse team, as Kelly Foley returns to the Trojan sidelines as the team’s head coach.

Kelly served as assistant coach on Craig Agreste’s TA lacrosse teams in 2018 - 2019, before becoming varsity head coach in Sanford for five years, where she turned a struggling Spartan program into a consistent winner.

Kelly, who also teaches English at Thornton, was a standout athlete with the Golden Trojans, playing four years of varsity soccer, indoor track, and lacrosse. She captained the 2008 Trojan lacrosse team and was also captain of the soccer team for two seasons.

“She is highly motivated, organized, and a natural leader,” says Craig.  “Kelly has a true passion for the game of lacrosse, and I'm very excited to watch her teams play with that same passion that she will coach with.”

Kelly attended Springfield College, becoming a three-year lacrosse starter at the defensive midfielder position for the Pride. She led her team to the NEWMAC conference title in 2012, earning Second-Team All-Conference honors.

Kelly graduated from Springfield summa cum laude with a double major in English and Communications/Sports Journalism.
