Mike Nelson named TA Boys Basketball coach

Mike Nelson is returning to the sidelines as the head coach of the Thornton Academy Boys Basketball program. Mike, a native of Thomaston, was head coach of the Golden Trojans from 1999-2003 and had a record of 47-31 during that time, including three postseason appearances.

He was previously the head coach at Skowhegan Area High School, where he led the school to the 1998 Class A state championship. He has also served as head basketball coach at Morse High School and athletic director at Carrabec High School. A 1989 graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington, Mike scored 1,166 points during his career with the Beavers and was named to the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006.
