Sports Spotlight: Cross Country 2017

The TA cross country team has loved this season. Cool, crisp fall days are perfect for running. Coached by Tom Quentin '10, both the girls and boys teams have had successful seasons and bonded together through their love of running.

Both teams wrapped up their 2017 seasons this past Saturday at the Regional meets. Sophomore Dawson Desrosiers qualified for the State meet, finishing in 26th place with a time of 18:00:77. This is his first year running cross country and Coach Quentin has high hopes for his future on the team.

In only his first year as head coach, Coach Quentin has brought the team together throughout the season. The boys finished with a strong 9-4 record, while the girls finished 5-11. Top runners include Junior Landon Heidrich, Senior Jackson Pierce, and Desrosiers for the boys. Senior Renee Dostal and Junior Emma Nassif led the girls' squad.

Coach Quentin was a member of the cross country team when he was a student at TA and enjoys coaching because he can pass the torch to the next generation of TA runners. He enjoys the challenge of making it successful and has hopes of sending both teams to the state championship in the future.

He says, "the best way to get better at running is by running," but the team also does core workouts and practices yoga led by Assistant Coach Ari Hadiaris the days after meets.
