Students Win Big at Maine Academy of Modern Music Slam
Congratulations to Thornton Academy students Zoe Gagne ’18 and Eve Gagne ’20 who won First Place with their band Yard Sail at the 2017 Maine Academy of Modern Music (MAMM) Slam held on Saturday, May 13, at Empirein Portland. Zoe plays guitar and Eve plays drums in the five-girl band.

The MAMM Slam is Maine’s premier high school band rock off. The competition is designed to provide young, career-minded musicians with an educational platform through which to gain performance and business experience, professional acumen, industry exposure, and promotional and career networking opportunities.

Yard Sale won a $1,000 cash prize, a tour of Gateway Mastering, a free recording, premiere gigs, scholarships to the Maine College of Art, and will get to perform on the MAMM stage at the 2017 Old Port Festival on Sunday, June 11.
