TA Players present the popular musical ‘Newsies’
The Thornton Academy Players are back on stage with “Newsies The Musical”, running March 30 - April 2.
The hit musical, based on the 1992 Disney movie, features a cast and crew of 75 students, including a trio of seniors in lead roles: Naaman Wheeler as Jack Kelley, Emily Hansen as Katherine Plumber, and Logan New as Davey.
Students at TA have participated in all aspects of the production, including set, scenic, and costume design.
“This senior class has set a very high standard and it’s fitting that they finish their high school career with a production that fills the stage with a number of large-scale singing and dancing numbers,” says Emma Campbell, Chair of Thornton’s Arts Department.
Popular numbers from Newsies include “King of New York”, “The World Will Know”, and “Seize the Day.”
The show features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman, and a book by Harvey Fierstein based on the film's screenplay by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White.

- Thursday, March 30: 7 pm
- Friday, March 31: 7 Pm
- Saturday, April 1: 2pm and 7 pm
- Sunday, April 2: 2 pm
