Technology & New Media
New world, new media. Our technology classes are at the cutting edge.
The Technology and New Media Department offers students immersive experiences with industry standard tools for coding, robotics, web design, and digital media. Students are challenged with authentic problems and then asked to develop creative solutions, plan their implementation, and execute and evaluate their success.
Students in these classes take advantage of the latest technology and software tools. All classes are held in our Technology and New Media Center, purposefully designed to encourage visibility and collaboration between students and disciplines. Grouping programming, digital media creation, web design, and robotics is an intentional effort to encourage teachers and students to be conscious of where these technologies overlap, connect, and integrate.
Our Technology and New Media center is outfitted with the latest Apple technology. Our teachers are experienced in their fields and regularly invite experts to inform our students on the latest trends in design and execution.
Thornton Academy students also benefit from a TV studio complete with green screen that they use to create content in TV production and Movie Making classes.

I am very passionate about my work and was able to express my ideas in various digital classes at Thornton Academy. The New Media department was the perfect place for me to learn and gain real world experience. I am well prepared as I continue my education in college and have benefited from all the exposure to digital media I received at Thornton.
