Be healthy, be well, be your best you.
The Wellness Department at Thornton Academy aims to help you achieve total well-being in the many different dimensions of health and wellness. Wellness includes your mental, social, and emotional well-being. Here at Thornton Academy we touch on the many areas of Wellness in a way that fits your lifestyle and strengths. The department requires you to take three semester-long classes. During your freshman year you will take Principles of Personal Fitness, in your sophomore year, you will take Current Issues in Wellness. The department also requires you to take a half credit of Physical Activity (which can be earned in several different ways).
The Wellness Department offers many electives to students with interests in the health and wellness fields. Students currently can take Applied Exercise Science, Sport Psychology, and/or Nutrition. Periodically, we offer other courses such as Stress Management, Sport in American Culture, and CPR/First Aid. We look forward to being part of your educational experience at TA.
