Unsung Hero Award

If you've been to a home football or basketball game, the Lobster Bowl, and even the NE track meets that are held on campus, you've probably seen Anita Cote. She has been a mainstay at TA ticket booths since 1987.

Jim McKenney served as the Concession Manager for nine years and was in charge of purchasing the food for all of the events at both concession stands and knowing how much food to prepare for each event. He was also in charge of purchasing and maintaining equipment use for the concessions. 

Jerry has worked in the facilities department at TA for more than 10 years. Jerry is dependable, reliable and can fix anything.

At the 2016 Friday Night Blackout football game, Kirk Purvis '93, President of the Thornton Academy Alumni Board, presented the “Unsung Hero Award: Volunteers of the Year” to three very deserving individuals: Bill Kany ’77, Ken Janson ’72 and Kathy Santamore ’80.

Her involvement includes countless hours at the concession stand as a volunteer with the Athletic Boosters as well as photographing many TA games and other events and sharing her photos free of charge.
