One of the benefits of our size is the sheer diversity of course and program options. That’s why a hallmark of a Thornton Academy education is access to more. Thornton Academy offers more than 200 courses in 8 different academic departments, including 26 AP classes and more than 40 honors classes. Each year, you’ll choose 8 different classes that match your individual interests, academic rigor, and goals for the future. There are as many different avenues of exploration as there are different kinds of students at Thornton Academy.

We have an extensive scheduling process. Unlike some other secondary schools, our process is VERY student-centric. Our master schedule is a reflection of the course requests that match both the required and desired course selections from students. Variables such as alignment with the TAMS schedule, individualizing the needs of our students receiving special education, and data-based predictions of course requests/ needs for all of our learners create a large puzzle to assemble each school year.
