Summer Arts for Kids

We believe that the arts are an essential part of a full and satisfying life. Exposure to the arts sharpens the skills of observation and opens young minds to infinite possibilities. This camp is designed to engage students intellectually, physically, and emotionally. We look forward to greeting new campers and familiar faces again this summer!
Each year the professional staff designs and implements engaging and age-appropriate activities around one theme.
Each day begins with all campers joining together for Circle Time to discuss the day and upcoming events. Campers are grouped by age and follow a rotating schedule of activities where they participate in projects and activities in each subject based on the week’s theme. At the end of each day, groups gather to share their experiences and creations and to play outside games.
Campers should dress for an active day in comfortable clothing and apply sunscreen before coming to Arts Camp. Please bring a morning snack, a water bottle, and a bag lunch.
We will celebrate the week on Friday at 2PM with an art display in the Atrium and performances in the Garland Auditorium.
Dates: June 24-28, 2024
Times: 9am - 3pm Please drop off your child between 8:45-9:00am each day
Location: Thornton Academy Atrium for drop off
Registration Fee: $225 before March 1, $250 after
Ages: 7-12 as of camp start date (June 24)

What do you love about Arts Camp? I love the crazy kids, their crazy ideas and watching the magic of creativity overpower their desire to conform. Arts camp gives voice to their creative inner workings and advances their skills from the inside out.
Why are the arts important to you? Writing reminds the campers to use words carefully and intentionally so they can cultivate a more captive and understanding audience.

What do you love about Arts Camp? The fun and freedom you have with kids that love art and want to be there! there are so many different personalities and interests that get to be enhanced because of all the different courses we offer.
Why are the arts important to you? I believe it's important for kids to take my class because it helps them slow down, examine, think, plan and communicate through art.

Why are the arts important to you? Performing asks us to take a chance on ourselves-- the reward is multifaceted. Confidence is built, new friendships are formed, and the exciting energy is felt by both performers and audience members!
