Tripod Wins Best Yearbook Award For New England

On Friday, May 5th, members of the Thornton Academy Technology and New Media Department attended the 69th NESPA (New England Scholastic Press Association) Conference at Boston University. The 2016 Thornton Academy Yearbook (Tripod) was awarded the First Place, All-New England Journalism Award as the best Yearbook by a school with an enrollment over 1,000 students (Class I). NESPA’s annual publication competition drew over 800 entries from around New England this year in a variety of journalism and publication categories.

"The All-New England Journalism Award recognizes the outstanding overall quality of the TA Yearbook, which is a tremendous honor," co-advisor Josh Pulsifer ’06 said. “This award recognizes Thornton as producing one of the premier yearbooks in all of New England, and is a testament to TA’s commitment of quality and excellence in the classroom. The 2017 edition of Tripod promises to continue the outstanding tradition of journalism excellence that Thornton strives for when it is released later this spring.”

The award-winning 2016 Tripod was edited by students Janelle Poitras ’16 and Jacob Dostal ’16, and was co-advised by Josh Pulsifer ’06 and Jeff Christenbury ’03. “The staff of the 2016 Tripod was determined to produce a yearbook that they would be proud of and would leave a lasting legacy at Thornton Academy. Their efforts have now been recognized and awarded regionally, further cementing their legacy and that of the Thornton Academy Tripod,” said Mr. Pulsifer.
