Mrs. Andrea Bove
Teaching: Introduction to Biology I, Introduction to Chemistry II, Anatomy and Physiology
Mrs. Bove teaches Introduction to Chemistry II and Introduction to Biology I for sophomores. In addition, she teaches the elective Anatomy & Physiology for juniors and seniors.
Mrs. Bove grew up in Windham, Maine, and received her bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Mount Holyoke College in western Massachusetts. She has been working at Thornton Academy since 2003, when she returned to Maine after living away for twenty years. Before moving “home," Mrs. Bove and her husband lived in Toronto, Canada for four years, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina for six years, in Swampscott, Massachusetts for nine years, and in Odense, Denmark for almost two years.
Mrs. Bove has a variety of experiences in science. She has worked for a large biomedical company as a technician performing paternity tests, as a medical laboratory technician at a small hospital in North Carolina, as a research assistant in a psychobiology laboratory at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and as a clinical research assistant on a headache project at University of Odense in Denmark.
Mrs. Bove enjoys sailing, skiing, and hiking. She spends a great deal of time working in her organic garden and caring for her pets which currently include a donkey, mule, two goats, two rabbits, a hen and rooster, and two cats!
