Thornton Academy partners with colleges, universities, businesses, and non-profit organizations to provide our students with the most opportunities to plan for a career and give back to their community. Here are some examples of our partners.
After reviewing the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) curriculum at Thornton Academy, the University of Maine signed an agreement “to promote the admission of qualified students, to provide the means for a smooth transition for students who have satisfactorily completed the rigorous and mutually agreed upon STEM program at the Academy.” Qualifying students who are eligible for admission to the University’s Engineering College will enter with advanced admissions standing, with a credit equivalency up to the first year of the engineering program.
In September of 2014, Thornton Academy and the University of New England announced a partnership that enables qualifying students to enter the University with sophomore status! Please see the Program of Studies or your Guidance counselor for more information or watch the press conference below.
Thornton Academy students may earn college credits through "dual enrollment" with YCCC. Dual enrollment offers early college experience for high school juniors and seniors who wish to earn both high school and college credit at the same time! For more information, see YCCC Dual Enrollment.
