WGME 13 School Spirit Challenge
During September and October, 2015, Thornton Academy participated in WGME 13's School Spirit Challenge to raise food for the Good Shepherd Food Bank and the Saco Food Pantry. This was a competition between area high schools to see who could raise the most food and TA faced off against Kennebunk High School. Tune in to WGME 13 on Friday, November 6th from 6 AM-7 AM when the competition's winner will be announced.

Students volunteer each February to create a special Valentine's Day with carnations and cards for seniors who live at the Hazelton House in Saco.
Thornton Academy’s residential students regularly volunteer at the Seashore Trolley Museum on weekends, tackling fun and challenging projects. On Saturday, April 9, 2016, twelve Residential Life students from three different countries (China, Czech Republic, and Vietnam) helped with railroad tie replacement on the museum heritage mainline track and also helped dismantle the frame and plastic housing that encircled the number one end of the Narcissus during the winter months. In December, students raise money to purchase holiday gifts for local families who are facing hardships. Dozens of students gather and volunteer time to help wrap the gifts.
