Where Trojans Train & Compete

Great athletes deserve great facilities.

Thornton Academy provides athletes with world-class training and competition venues across its campus. Key facilities include Hill Stadium for outdoor sports and Linnell Gymnasium for indoor competition, supported by extensive practice and playing fields on our 80-acre campus.

Additional facilities include four tennis courts, three baseball diamonds, three softball diamonds, and five practice fields. Swim, ice hockey, and golf teams compete at premier nearby venues within a 10-minute drive of campus.

Miles Field House

The Miles Field House opened in May 2026 after nearly a decade of planning, fundraising, and construction. This dynamic space will fundamentally change the campus by adding much-needed space for wellness courses, community events, and hosting basketball, volleyball, and even tennis matches in the future. Miles also includes a mezzanine walking track, and the new space for the Thornton Academy Athletic Hall of Fame.

Kezal Field at Hill Stadium

The summer of 2026 saw Hill Stadium undergo a renovation that brought a new turf and resurfaced track to campus. This space, which plays host to football, field hockey, soccer, cross country, track, lacrosse, and many community events, serves as the hub of outdoor activity on campus. The new turf was named Kezal Field, dedicated to long time football coach and educator, Kevin Kezal.

Thornton Academy Fitness Center

The Fitness Center brings a new dynamic to wellness courses and athletics at Thornton Academy. This renovated space was created so all students, regardless of age, size, or athletic ability, can increase their overall health and wellness. Teams are able to come together and have planned workouts, utilizing a partnership with Maine Health to provide a strength and conditioning expert to get the most of the space.
