Homestay

Find your home away from home.

Thornton Academy’s Homestay Program offers an alternative to dormitory living for international students seeking language and American cultural immersion. In turn, families are given a wonderful opportunity to learn from their Homestay students, sample new traditions, cuisines and languages, teach their children about ambassadorship, and share in the excitement of their Homestay sons and daughters as they begin their great American adventure. It’s a time of discovery for the student, as well as the Homestay family.

Students who wish to participate in the Homestay Program can apply at the time of enrollment. Our Homestay Coordinator thoughtfully matches students and families and provides continuous support throughout the year. The success of the program can be attributed to the generosity and dedication of the families who take part. The strength of the relationships forged during the year are long-lasting, and continue well past graduation.

Thornton Academy represents home for me. A second family that I am able to live with all school year thanks to the homestay program and friendships I am grateful beyond words for.
