The Thornton Academy Anglers' Society recently received a grant to purchase canoes and uses them for open water fishing. The club takes trips throughout New England to find where the fish are biting and participate in activities like Ice Fishing, Open Water Fishing, and Fish Stocking.
The TA Cycling Club does community service at various trails throughout the state and hosts weekly road, mountain and BMX rides in and around Saco. They regularly use the Eastern Trail, a multi-use trail behind campus.

outdoor adventure club
Hike, kayak, go cross country skiing with a group of friends that share your passion for the great outdoors. This club takes advantage of Thornton Academy's location close to the ocean and near mountains and forests.
With ski trips on the weekends in the winter, feel the excitement of cruising on downhill skis or a snowboard down the slopes. Open to all interested students, regardless of ability and prior experience. Lessons are available.
Join environmentally-focused students to increase awareness on campus of important environmental topics. The club works on introducing more vegetarian food choices in the cafe, improving recycling, and composting. The club also plants and manages a garden in the spring and harvests in the fall. Club members also participate in community clean-ups, field trips, and conferences related to environmental topics. Be a part of molding TA's culture towards increased sustainable practices.
