The 13th Annual
Thornton Fund Auction

In light of the ever changing COVID-19 situation and the State of Maine’s mandates surrounding large group events, we are not able to hold the Annual Auction as planned on our postponement date of September 26, 2020. This event is one of our favorite and most treasured Thornton Academy traditions. We will miss seeing you all and sharing in a fun evening to benefit our students and school.

Though we will not hold the auction portion of the event, we will still be having a virtual raffle ticket drawing on Facebook on September 26, 2020 at 7pm. We hope that you will consider trying your luck by purchasing a $100 raffle ticket for your chance to win $10,000, $5,000 and (5) $1,000 prizes!

Proceeds from the annual auction support the Headmaster’s Student Assistance Fund – specifically the Free Breakfast and Lunch Program. We expect the need for this service to be greater than ever this year and hope you will consider purchasing a raffle ticket to help students in need.

Thank you to all who supported last year's auction! Your generosity and participation is a clear testament to your commitment to our students, and your investment in the future of Thornton Academy.


We are so grateful for the nearly 350 alumni, parents, friends, and community members who came together to #bidforthewin at our annual auction this past Saturday, May 4th! We are thrilled to announce that your efforts and generosity raised $124,257 to benefit the Thornton Fund, which supports critical programming, expands academic opportunities, and enhances campus life.

A highlight of the evening was the sea of raised paddles that signaled our community's response to the "Fund-A-Cause" portion of the live auction. In the span of just a few minutes, attendees raised $18,000 in support of the Headmaster's Student Assistance Fund—specifically TA's free breakfast and lunch program—a resource that provides meals to more than 250 food insecure students. Many thanks to the "Fund-A-Cause" Match Sponsor, Modern Woodmen of America, for their $2,500 contribution, as well as VFW Post 7997's generous $500 check presentation!
