Why TAMS?
A Middle School Designed for Student Success

Our Middle School (TAMS) provides an environment that is intentionally designed to support students at this very formative stage of life. Thornton Academy knows that a small, safe, and supportive learning environment is critical to success as students find their way socially, emotionally and academically.

All They Need to Succeed!

Small Classes–
Big Learning

Four people stand in front of a wall of bookshelves, each holding a book.

A supportive, close knit middle school experience where every student is known, valued, and appropriately challenged.

Partnership with Families

A group of young athletes and coaches pose for a photo in a gymnasium with championship banners hanging in the background.

At TAMS, we know that family partnership is a key to student success. Our Parent Goals Worksheet and two conferences each year are ways that we meaningfully engage or families.

Individualized Learning

A smiling young girl stands in front of a science fair project about eggs, with other projects and a flag visible in the background.

Through Personalized Learning Plans, strong homeroom connections, and a small school community, students receive meaningful individual attention while building independence and confidence.

A Safe, Welcoming Environment

With a focus on both learning and belonging, TAMS creates a safe, welcoming environment where students are prepared for success in high school and beyond.

Exciting Opportunities

Two young dancers in black costumes with iridescent scales on their legs and arms perform on a stage in front of a dark, spiral-patterned backdrop.

A strong academic program is balanced with rich opportunities in the arts, athletics, and extracurricular activities, allowing students to explore their interests and stay actively engaged in school life.

TAMS Testimonies:
Impact of the Middle School Experience

Since coming to TAMS, I have learned more about myself than I could ever imagine and learned a lot about what being part of a community means. I love how many opportunities there are, in and out of the classroom. At TAMS, everyone is there to help you learn, grow, and succeed. I encourage future TAMS students to work hard, be open to opportunities, and have fun!

Zach Wood TA Class of 2031

The TAMS community is one of encouragement and positivity. I have watched my children grow socially through school wide team building and after school club offerings. I have watched my children grow academically from the staff pushing them to meet their abilities. As a parent, I appreciate how well TAMS prepares students for continued academic success from the offering of taking high school classes as an 8th grader to utilizing the TA campus to gain familiarity. TAMS was the best decision for my children.

Something that I will always remember about TAMS is the strong sense of community present at the school. I had healthy relationships with every teacher and most students for the entire duration of middle school. TAMS helped me to grow by making long-lasting connections with many of my peers, and it has helped me to fulfill my academic potential as a student. The great teachers at TAMS pushed me to be the best person both academically and socially as I could be. I will always look back to my great memories that I made at TAMS.
